The Venerable Donald Kirk announced as 11th Bishop of Riverina

At a special session of Synod held in Griffith on the 23rd of February, representatives from the Diocese 23 parishes attended to cast their vote for the next Bishop. The See of Riverina has been vacant since the departure of Bishop Rob Gillion in July last year, with the Diocese under the leadership of Diocesan Administrator, The Very Rev Rob Harris, in the interregnum.

Archdeacon Donald will join Riverina from the Diocese of Ballarat, where he currently serves as Rector of the Parish of Hamilton and Archdeacon of the South West.  Archdeacon Donald has had extensive experience in a range of roles in Dioceses throughout New South Wales and Victoria, including working with regional areas.

I am looking forward to this new and challenging ministry as Bishop of Riverina. I hope and pray that working together with the Clergy and Laity of the Diocese we can do great things for the sake of Jesus Christ. - Archdeacon Donald Kirk

Archdeacon Donald will be consecrated and installed as Bishop of Riverina at St Alban the Martyr Cathedral later this year in June.
