The parish of Leeton was established in 1912. The original church of St. Peter, Apostle and Martyr was constructed of locally made mud bricks in 1913. The present church of St. Peter’s was constructed in 1973. The architect was Louis Williams of Melbourne. Louis Williams designed many churches during his long career and developed the style known as ‘Australian Gothic’. He made and emphasis on space and light. St. Peters was the last church designed by him in New South Wales. The new church was consecrated on 27th November 1982.
The Church of St. John the Evangelist, Whitton was established in 1885 and was a separate parish until 1944. Township of Whitton is home to approximately 350 people and was a major commercial and transport centre in the 19th Century. The parish embdied the Anglo-catholic tradition that welcomes those seeking to encounter God through Sacraments, teaching and prayer.
We strive to become a welcoming, growing and developing church.
